Dr. Greg Powell of STARS-Alberta (right) receives congratulations from AW Philadelphia CEO Bruno Cellemme (center) and AW Contracts Manager Rob Emerson (left) on the acceptance of their first AW139.

On May 12, 2008, Agusta Westland Philadelphia was extremely pleased to deliver the very first AW139 destined for Emergency Medical Service in North America to STARS (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society) of Alberta, Canada.

On hand for the acceptance ceremony in Philadelphia were STARS CEO/President, Dr. Greg Powell and Director of Maintenance, Darren Hartley. This AW139, and a second due for delivery in late 2009, will enter service with STARS by providing life-saving aeromedical flights throughout large areas of the province of Alberta and parts of British Columbia.

STARS helicopters typically service communities within 180 miles (250 km) of their three bases in Calgary, Edmonton and Grand Prairie. The AW139 will be the largest, fastest and most technologically advanced helicopter STARS has ever operated since its first mission flown in 1985.

For information on EMS configurations for the AW139, please contact our Sales and Marketing Department at 215-281-1440.
